The group was formed in 2009 by bringing together established businesses in the automotive clean-tech sector AVID Vehicles and ComeSys Europe Limited. ComeSys Europe Limited was established in 2005 and AVID Vehicles was established in 2008. In 2010 the business units were all rebranded to adopt the AVID name:
AVID Technology currently has four product groups. These products are used on commercial vehicles, construction equipment and other specialist equipment to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
